Rationale

The University has been gearing up for its Centennial in 2008. Preparations include projects that are reflective of the University’s niches, culture of excellence, diversity and distinctiveness.

One of the goals of the Centennial is to create opportunities for different university constituents to participate in the celebration. UPLB’s Centennial Theme Song Competition and Concert, is a venue where students, faculty, staff, alumni and other constituents can help the students and faculty to raise funds for their welfare.

This music fest will feature the entries for the UPLB Centennial Theme Song Composition Contest that mirror UPLB talents in song composition. Also, this will serve as a showcase of the different talents that UPLB has. Overall, the music fest is a benefit show meant to raise funds for two of the Centennial Fund Campaign projects - Faculty Development Fund and the Scholarship Fund for Undergraduate and Graduate Students.

Through this music fest, the University will be able to have a song that will unify its constituents as we celebrate this milestone. Also, the proceeds of this activity will leave a legacy to the faculty and students who will benefit from the projects that the university has put up for them.

This is not just a song composition contest. It is also a time to reveal our distinctiveness not just in science and technology but also in music and the arts. Lastly, it is an opportunity for every constituent to be part of this grand celebration that only happens once in our lifetime.
